Where can I site my container?
Pretty much wherever you like as long as the lorry can get there. Have a look at our Transport FAQs page for more information.
What should I put underneath the storage container?
Storage containers should be placed on level ground, if not it can be difficult to open and shut the container doors. Our drivers can help with the positioning, however it is the hirer’s responsibility to ensure the ground is adequately prepared and that you have the materials to make the storage container sit level. Examples of suitable materials are railway sleepers or concrete blocks underneath the ends of the storage container.
How heavy are the containers?
10 ft containers are approx 1 metric tonne (which is about the same as a British ton)
20 ft containers are approx 2.2 tonnes
40 ft containers are approx 4 tonnes
How secure are storage containers?
Storage containers are very secure. They are constructed from high tensile steel, with a 27mm treated plywood floor mounted on steel cross members. Containers have double opening doors secured with lockable closing bars as standard. For all hire units we fit an extra high security lock box and supply a high security lock. The lock box prevents the lock from being tampered with. This short video will show you how:
Do I need planning permission for a storage container?
Storage containers are non-permanent structures so in most cases you probably won’t. However if the storage container is going to be in a residential or other sensitive area, near a road junction, or likely to cause complaints from neighbours, it is worth checking with the appropriate authorities.
If we rent storage containers, can we buy them at a later date?
If you let us know that you may wish to purchase the container at a later date before the start of the hire period, it can be arranged. If you decide you’d like to buy the container once you’ve had it a while, just give us a call and we’ll see what we can arrange.
If we purchase storage containers, will you buy them back at a later date?
Yes, the price will be subject to the market value at the time and transport costs for collection.
How and when do we pay for the storage container?
You can pay for a storage container by a variety of methods including bank transfer, cash, cheque, credit card (Visa/MasterCard) or debit card. When hiring a storage container the first payment required is rental for the first four weeks and the delivery and collection charges. Payment must be cleared prior to release of the container(s). Thereafter, a standing order payment will be set up to pay the ongoing monthly hire charges.
Who is responsible for insuring the containers when they are on site?
The customer is responsible for insurance of the units.
Do the storage containers have a problem with condensation?
As with any enclosed space, condensation can be an issue. To combat this, the majority of our storage containers are fitted with vents and we recommend that you open the doors on a regular basis to enable the storage container to breathe; this is more important during periods of extreme cold or hot weather. It is also a good idea not to lean or stack sensitive goods directly against the walls of the storage container.
However, if you are using the storage container to store sensitive goods, we offer containers which have a special coating on the ceiling which absorbs the water to help stop it dripping on to the contents below. If this sounds interesting, please give Phil a call on 01934 245027, he’ll be happy to fill you in on the details and give you some prices. Alternatively just fill in our simple form and get a
